Leah was the elder sister of Rachel, who got married by chance not by choice to the man who chose her own very sister; Rachel . and as a result, she was unloved!
In Genesis 29:31, Scripture says: “When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb…”
Before Leah found her voice,
Heaven found her pain.
Leah did not begin as barren
she began as unwanted. And that is a different kind of pain.
Leah’s First Struggle: Rejection
Leah was married… but not chosen.
Present… but not preferred.
Committed… but not cherished.
Her husband got married to her sister just a week after her marriage because Leah was unwanted. Jacob, loved her sister more. Imagine waking up daily beside someone who tolerates you but longs for another.
Leah’s fight was not against Rachel. Her fight was against invisibility. Rejection can make you: impress through; overperforming, overgiving, overprove (you go explain taya) And Leah did all of these
If you ask Leah, she might have preferred to be in her sister’s shoe if only their husband would love her.
Leah’s Second Struggle: Performance for Love
Every child she bore carried a cry.
When she gave birth to Reuben, she said: “Now my husband will see me.”
Things didn’t change still, she gave birth to Simeon, and said: “The Lord has heard that I am unloved.”
Nothing still shifted, then she bore Levi, the struggle continues, so she said: “Now my husband will be attached to me.”
Notice something –
Every name was about attention and the love of Jacob.
She was productive… but still empty.
Fruitful… but still unloved.
Leah teaches us something painful:
Achievement cannot manufacture affection.
Achievement may not produce preference.
Many of us live here today.
“If I succeed more, they will value me.”
“If I look better, they will notice me.”
“If I serve more, I will be chosen.”
But performance is a poor substitute for identity.
We will take it further into Leah’s turning point and how the Shift happened.
