Ah! Lord God! (Character II) Series III

Ah! Lord God! (Character II) Series III

This is the continuation of our series on CHARACTER, Ah! Lord God.

Last week, we equated character with wisdom and that wisdom is as a result of our walk with God.

This week, our focus will be on character in its action…Characters are shaped in childhood. We pick up our adult role from childhood. When a child comes from a godly home, and easily mix with ungodly children in school. This shows that the child works with the wise (home), but walks with fools (ungodly) in school.

What will be the product of someone’s life is who he/she walks with, hence the result we see today . As a child (physically or spiritually), who you walk with is more important than who you work with. That is why we need to be careful and walk with our children, because the quality of life is not hardwork, but results.

Why I went down to children is because the quality of adulthood is mostly dependent on the quality of childhood. This is why we are likened to a child even if we have given our lives to Christ as adult.

Ananias and Sapphira are one example of this in adulthood. They are a Christian couple, they work, dine, move with Christians (disciples), but their eyes were blocked as a result of greed and desire to feel among. Many are like that in church today. Kindly read Acts chapter 5:1-11 and ask that the Holy Spirit will help you to be true to God and to yourself.

Ananias and Saphira died not because God killed them, but because of their sin.

They saw how the disciples had loved themselves and shared what they had with each other. They wanted to be part of it, so they decided to sell their land. Anything done out of feeling among is as good as bad. Colossians 3:23 says whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men. They brought part of the amount, and lied that it was the whole amount. Peter said to the husband in verse 3-4;

Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”

Hearing it, the man dropped dead, and when the wife came in too, she affirmed with the husband and died too. How I wish they agreed together on holiness and something positive, that’s how it would have yielded greatness for them. They work with the disciples, godly people, but walk in ungodliness with themselves, and their end speaks of the endpoint(death).

You cannot be said to be wise when your character is questionable, walking in deceit, it depicts foolishness.

Cultural differences, can give rise to differences in our moral standards. But it is also important to note that Heaven has a culture and that culture should give a positive rise in our moral standard; the way we treat others and handle situations. On this note, preaching the gospel and ringing the bells is not enough in this context, but living by EXAMPLE.

Confession:   I walk in the character of God and grace to live above sin.

Prayer: Father! I receive grace to walk in godliness and righteousness in Jesus name.
