Tend God’s Fire

Tend God’s Fire

I remember that song, Like fire, like rain, let your glory fall…the popular song by Kari Jobe.

Tending God’s fire is to ensure its burning…stay out of water…stay clear of fire extinguisher…

Like any fire, the flame of God in our lives requires careful tending. It is easy to let the fire die down when we are distracted by the cares of the world, overwhelmed by the trials of life, or seduced by complacency and challenges. However, maintaining a fire for God involves intentional action.

A prayerless life is a fireless life. Prayer is the oxygen that keeps the fire burning. A vibrant prayer life connects us with the source of divine power and clarity. Worship, too, is an act of fanning the flames of passion for God. When we express our love and adoration for Him, the fire in our hearts grows stronger.

I love what the Word of God does to my fire. There was a time I had noticed I was being consumed with anxiety; nothing works. Then I resulted to the WORD, and like fire, like rain, it soaked me. God’s Word is like a match that sparks the fire within us. When we immerse ourselves in the Scriptures, we allow God to speak directly to our hearts, guiding, correcting, and inspiring us. The Word reveals the heart of God, and the more we know Him, the more fervent our love and commitment to Him become.

Nothing ignites a fire than fire brand qualities. Being in community with fellow believers is essential to keeping the fire alive. Encouraging one another, sharing testimonies, and praying together fan the flames of faith. Just as a single coal can quickly die out on its own but burns brightly when placed with others, so too our faith thrives in fellowship.

Meanwhile, one of the most tangible ways to live afire for God is through service. When we serve others in Jesus’ name, we are living out His command to love our neighbors as ourselves. Service keeps us grounded in humility and reminds us that our lives are not our own. It stirs our hearts to be more like Christ, who “came not to be served but to serve” (Mark 10:45).

Keep the fire burning!
